#6 Best of Bob's Burgers Christmas

Bob's Burgers is a beloved animated show that follows the Belchers, a struggling family of five as they try their best to make ends meet and maintain their burger restaurant. The show is entering it's 14th season and in anticipation for this season's Christmas episode, I am going to share my top 3 Christmas episodes from this show.

#3 The Gingerbread House on the Left

This episode from Season 7 features Mr. Fischoeder, the Belchers' landlord, who invites Bob to a gingerbread house building contest and asks him to lose on purpose. During the contest Mr.Fischoeder upsets Bob by insulting his gingerbread house so Bob decides he is actually going to beat Fischoeder and win the contest.  This episode is one of the funnier Christmas episodes because of the characters interactions. Mr. Fischoeder's constant bullying of his younger brother along with how upset he gets with his poorly designed gingerbread house make him a hilarious addition to the episode.

#2 Father of the Bob

In this Season 5 episode the family goes to Bob's father's Christmas party at his restaurant. Bob and his father do not get along well and can't be around each other for more than 15 minutes. Linda tries to keep them together in the kitchen so that they can try to get along, but they end up fighting. The peak of their conflict happens when one of the regulars at the restaurant orders "the usual" and Bob is hit with a flashback from when he was 14 and he made this customer a special burger and his father insulted it. This results in a competition between Bob and his father to see who can make a better meal. When the customer likes Bob's burger his father gets upset and leaves to go to the bar across the street. This is one of the more serious episodes, but I really like that we get to see a full episode with Bob's dad, or as he is called in the show, Big Bob. Big Bob is not a regular character on the show, and that is probably a good thing because most of what he does is nitpick Little Bob, but it is nice to see them try to work on their relationship.

#1 The Plight Before Christmas

The latest Christmas episode from Season 13 was one of the more emotional episodes of Bob's Burgers. All 3 of the children have different events going on, all on the same night at the same time, but in 3 different places. Louise is reading a poem she wrote at the library, but insists that she doesn't want her parents there because she wrote a silly poem, so Bob goes to Gene's event while Linda goes to Tina's play. Tina realizes that Louise wrote a serious poem and Bob and Linda try to figure out how to get one of them at the library in time to see Louise read her poem. This episode is suspenseful, which amplifies the emotions in the episode. When Bob is trying to get to the library to see Louise the music from Gene's event is in the background growing louder and faster, putting you on the edge of your seat, even though the stakes aren't super high.  This episode isn't the funniest or the best story, but it puts me through an emotional rollercoaster everytime I watch it, and that is why it is by number 1 favorite Bob's Burgers Christmas episode.

Thank you for reading and for letting me share a little bit about one of my favorite shows!

  1. I have never seen this show, but you gave a nice synopsis of what it is about. The Christmas show sounds like a pretty typical family where there are a lot of events and extra-curricular activities happening at the same time and the family has to choose between them!
